  • State recognition for the Fitness Challenge
  • Led campaign to get Haywood County Fire Safey House
  • Provided hundreds of child safety seats and bicycle helmets to Haywood County children through “Buckle Up Kids” and “Safe Kids” campaigns in conjunction with the NC Fire Marshall and Waynesville Kiwanis Club
  • Provided numerous educational programs on healthy food choices and physical activity in school and community settings. 
  • Donated fitness center memberships yearly for Fitness Challenge winners
  • Donated funding towards design of walking/ mountain biking trail in Rough Creek Watershed
  • Purchased bicycle and helmets for North Canton Elementary School’s Bicycle Club
  • Funded fitness video for Waynesville Middle School
  • Received the 2006 Golden Project award from the Wellness and Prevention Section of the North Carolina Public Health Association for the Haywood County Fitness Challenge program.
  • Received the 2006 North Carolina County Commissioners Outstanding County Program Award for innovative and effective programs and services through the Haywood County Fitness Challenge.  
  • Continue to lead substance abuse programs for teens through TABU 21 (Teens Against Booze Under 21 and TATU (Teens Against Tobacco Use)
  • Funded FREE square dancing classes
  • Purchased backpacks for at risk youth through Aspire program
  • A North Carolina certified Healthy Carolinians partnership since 1999
  • Developed and distributed Haywood County Fitness Finder – A physical activity directory for the county
  • Provided climbing walls in 7 Haywood County Elementary Schools
  • Funded a basketball court at Pigeon Community Development Center
  •  Purchased the first two goals for the Golf Disc Course at Waynesville Recreation Center Started the food distribution program with Community Development Associations and Manna Food Bank
  • Co-founded the Power of Pink, a fund-raising event for mammograms for low-income women in Haywood County
  • Advocated for the Health Department and Haywood County Schools to become 100% tobacco free (Both did establish tobacco-free policies)
  • Provided 2 adaptive bicycle for Haywood County Special Needs children
  • Provided scholarships for 6 overweight children to attend Wellsprings Adventure and Weight Management Camps
  • Provided scholarships for 4 overweight children to attend weight management programs at Haywood Regional Fitness Center
